big street one festival
Deneez (OES), Zion Explorer, Pablik and Genys (Dublicate), 05-05-2007

A 1 meter deep trench in road work construction site that had been our outdoor patio for the last 6 months looked like the perfect spot to set up our stage for the BIG STREET ONE Festival. Deneez (OES), Zion Explorer, Pablik and Genys (Dublicate) were spinning the reggae from 4 pm to 4am for street happening to remember.

BANGO COLLECTIVE
performing at Cafe de Paris, 31-03-2007

BANGO COLLECTIVE project participants: Paulius Kilbauskas (Producer), Bango (Vocals),
Augustinas Beinaravicius (Organiser), Ignas Jonynas (Organiser)Bango Collective is a project of the non-profit Organisation Involved. Involved as a non-profit organisation constitutes projects that are characterised by their alternative spirit. The organisation is political independent and pays attention to cultural minorities. Plus to that it tries to point out social problems in society with its projects. Involved uses the media of music and art for exhibitions, concerts, workshops, discussions and other events. Bango Collective evolved from the idea of creating a new music concept that is concerned with a cultural aspect and social problems of the Gypsy population in Vilnius, Lithuania. Consequently not only the music was important, but also to reflect the Roma culture and integrate them in Lithuanian society. The gypsyghetto in Vilnius is hot spot for drugs and crime and presents a great problem for the city of Vilnius and its government. Bango Collective wants to differ the perspective on this hot spot in evolving a music project out of it. Music becomes the universal language of all cultures in a mix of traditional Roma chant and modern, electronic club-music. This mix is to emphasise the characteristics of Roma culture: its ability to adapt to a changing society. For the Bango Collective project it was crucial to work out the cultural essence of Roma as a culture of music. Paulius Kilbauskas produced musical interpretation of Bango as a person, his lyrics, the ghetto and the gypsy-culture in context of a modern society. The result was a hip-hop/dub/ragga mix with a taste of balkan music.
